Continental Expands Presence in EV Tyre Segment

Continental has further strengthened its position in the electric mobility market, with all ten of the highest-volume electric vehicle manufacturers in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region choosing its tyres as original equipment in 2025. The achievement reflects the company’s growing influence in the rapidly evolving EV industry.

The tyre manufacturer has also expanded its global reach, with 17 of the world’s top 20 electric vehicle producers now using Continental tyres. This highlights the increasing trust that leading automakers place in the company’s products and technological expertise.

Advanced Tyre Technology for Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles place different demands on tyres compared to conventional vehicles. The additional weight of battery packs and the instant torque delivered by electric motors require tyres that offer greater durability and stability.

To address these requirements, Continental has developed tyres specifically designed for electric vehicles. These tyres are engineered to deliver lower rolling resistance, quieter operation, and higher load-carrying capacity, helping improve vehicle efficiency and driving comfort.

Lower rolling resistance plays a key role in enhancing the driving range of electric vehicles, while reduced noise levels improve the overall driving experience an important factor as EVs operate much more quietly than traditional vehicles.

Focus on Energy-Efficient Tyres

Continental has been working on energy-efficient tyre technologies for decades. The company introduced its EcoContact tyre line to improve vehicle efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Over time, these tyres have evolved with advanced design features that support both electric and conventional vehicles.

The latest tyre technologies developed by Continental also focus on improving aerodynamics and reducing energy loss during driving. These innovations help EV manufacturers maximise battery performance and extend vehicle range.

Growing EV Market Driving Demand

The increasing adoption of electric vehicles across the EMEA region is creating strong demand for tyres designed specifically for EVs. As automakers expand their electric portfolios, the need for advanced tyre solutions is also rising.

Continental aims to further strengthen its partnerships with global EV manufacturers while continuing to develop innovative tyre technologies that support the future of electric mobility. The company believes that as the EV market grows, specialised tyres will play a crucial role in improving efficiency, safety, and performance.
